Forum: GratefulDead Subject: New 10/9/89 "formerly the Warlocks" bootleg vid on youknowwhere

I've been out scavenging again, and I've returned with some new tasty nuggets. Come gather 'round, as wallyworld2 has added some new "Formerly the Warlocks" 10/9/89 bootleg vid to youtube; it's incomplete to date, but it's worth a peak (as it were). I never knew Jer played Wolf for this legendary show. How anyone could hold a camera at a show this hot is beyond me, but I'm forever grateful to the kind documentarian:

That's it for now...it appears as if wallyworld2 may be on his way to posting the whole show...can't wait for the Attics of my Life encore...what a night!

A buddy of mine had a VHS of the second set that we wore out watching back in the early 90s. I remember the sound being crap on it, the audio on these is soooo much better!

Negative. All except "Dark Star" part one and two were just put up the other day...I think a DVD may float around though...whatever the case, that was a historic night.

I call bullshit. I have seen that Hampton Dark Star up for weeks now. :X

I'm a new head, and am literally obsessed with them. Google video, yahoo video, youtube video, and myspace video (regarding GD) are my friends.

Oh ok Max. Didn't know the timeliness police patrolled the forum as well. A few weeks, a few days -- whatever. I hadn't seen the footage, and I'm sure many forumites hadn't either, so I thought I'd post links.

Don't quote me on the DVD -- I've never actually seen it, but that sure was an exciting time to be a fan; the boys were back.

Well I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth! That was fabulous and much thanks! The quality is superb and I'd love to get a hold of it. Hell, Lemieux should get ahold of it and put it out with 5.1 sound and special fx.

That's just too cool. Thanks again for the heads up from someone who rarely has time to even hit this, his fave site, let alone endlessly surfing the web for the gold.!

I have set 2 on VHS that I copied to DVD. Yes it's Dark and somewhat grainy but I love it because it's like watching the real deal. There's just something about it that is so much more like being there than the vault series. Maybe it's not having a bazillion camera angles like you wouldn't have in real life. Also, I have a 9/89 shoreline show that is a lot different too. Weir looks all possessed and the band just seems to have that " strange magic" thing going for it that sets it in a different category than the vault DVDs. Don't get me wrong I like those too. Can anybody relate to what I'm staying?

No worries everybody. My pleasure.

I've never seen any of those Vault DVDs JOTS, but man, I forgot about that Summer Solstice show...haven't seen it in years. If I remember correctly, Scarlet goes into (gasp!) Bucket instead of Fire. A hot show nonetheless...

Oh yeah, I guess Summer Solstice would be 6/89...duh. There must be tons of professionally shot stuff in the vault; I mean at least for every show where there were big screens at least...but I too like the stuff where you get a better sense of the crowd. The reaction for the Dark Star breakout posted above is just chilling.

Hey hey now. No need to get riled up in the least.. I was just pointing out a chronological error.. and I did thank you. Afterall, got me to go actually watch that DS again. Plus I think that there is a dvd out. IIRC it was on somebody list. This person had a lot of shows on dvd. Gotta fish that one out

Hey thanks man.

I can't watch it right now because I'm at work in the middle of class.

Some people seem to think I'm on here 24/7 and that I don't sleep or work. That of course is entirely untrue.

I've just managed to figure out how to sleep and work and post while I'm sleeping (at work). That leaves me lots of free time to play minesweeper and generally muck about.

But I digress. I'm looking forward to watching these videos.

Is there anyway to download this stuff?
